Complimentary orthodontic consultation in Evanston — FAQs
What actually happens during a complimentary orthodontic consultation at Smile Suite?
Dr. Kim personally examines your bite, facial balance, and airway, talks through what you want out of treatment, and walks you through every option that realistically fits your case — no sales script, no pressure. Before you leave, you'll have a written treatment plan and exact cost, insurance included.
Is the consultation really complimentary, with no obligation to start treatment?
Yes. There's no charge for your first visit and no expectation that you'll commit that day. Dr. Kim would rather you understand your options well enough to make a choice you're confident in, even if that means taking time to decide or getting a second opinion.
How long does a Smile Suite consultation take?
Most complimentary consultations run about 45–60 minutes, covering your exam, a conversation about your goals and options, and a review of pricing and insurance. Because we schedule around your appointment time, you're brought back right away — not after a half-hour wait.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring a photo ID and your dental insurance card if you have one. If you already have recent dental X-rays or records, you're welcome to bring those too — but if you don't, that's completely fine. We'll take what we need on-site.
Do I need a referral from my dentist to book a consultation?
No referral required. Adults and children — starting around age 7 — can schedule a complimentary consultation directly with our office. Call (847) 665-1504 or book online, and we'll confirm your insurance and scheduling details before your visit.
Can I book a same-week consultation in Evanston?
Often, yes. As an intentionally boutique practice, we keep more flexibility in the schedule than larger multi-chair offices, so same-week and even next-day consultations are common — call us and we'll find the soonest time that works.
How close is Smile Suite Orthodontics to Northwestern University?
Our office sits on Main St. in Evanston, just south of Northwestern's campus — an easy walk, bike ride, or short CTA or Metra trip from most residence halls and academic buildings. We regularly see Northwestern students, faculty, and staff for consultations.
Is parking available at your Evanston office?
Yes. We have complimentary on-site parking, so you won't need to hunt for street parking or feed a meter before your appointment. The Main St. Purple Line and Metra stops are also just a few blocks away if you're coming by train.
