Most patients don't arrive with a diagnosis — they arrive with a feeling that something isn't quite right, or a smile they'd like to change. Part of Dr. Kim's job is translating that into a clear picture: what's actually going on, why it happened, and what your realistic options are, drawing on nearly three decades of specialty training in orthodontics. Below are the conditions we address most often at our Evanston-area practice.
Crowded Teeth
Teeth that don't have enough room along the jaw, so they overlap, rotate, or get pushed out of line.
Spacing
Gaps between teeth caused by a jaw that's larger than the teeth need, or by missing or undersized teeth.
Overbite
Upper front teeth that extend too far down over the lower teeth, often tied to jaw growth or early habits.
Underbite
A lower jaw that sits ahead of the upper jaw, changing how the front teeth meet and the jaw functions.
Crossbite
Upper and lower teeth that don't line up correctly — often the most time-sensitive condition to catch early.
Open Bite
Front (or side) teeth that don't touch at all when the back teeth are together, often from habits or tongue posture.
Jaw Alignment Concerns
When misalignment goes beyond the teeth to the jaw bones themselves — affecting bite, function, and facial balance.
Teeth Shifting After Braces
Movement that shows up months or years after treatment ends — usually a retention issue, and usually fixable.
Not sure which one describes you?
That's exactly what a consultation is for. You'll be seen right at your appointment time while Dr. Kim takes a full look, explains what she sees in plain language, and walks you through the options — no pressure, no obligation.
