At The Smile Suite in Evanston, we believe your first orthodontic visit should feel welcoming, informative, and relaxed. We are here to guide you, answer your questions, and help you understand your treatment options with clarity and confidence.
We know that visiting a new doctor’s office can feel overwhelming, especially for younger patients, which is why we take great care in making your experience comfortable and supportive from the very beginning.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by our team and given an introduction to the office. You’ll meet Dr. Smith, discuss your smile goals, and get answers to any questions you may have.
Next, a trained treatment coordinator will take digital photos of your teeth to evaluate how your bite and smile fit together. If additional records such as X-rays or digital scans are needed, we’ll complete those comfortably and efficiently.
Not every patient will require all records at the first visit—we tailor the appointment to you.
Consultation Vs. Diagnostic Records
Your initial consultation with Dr. Smith is free. During this visit, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your concerns, learn about possible treatment options, and get a sense of what your orthodontic journey may look like.
To create a personalized and accurate treatment plan, diagnostic records are often needed. These records may include:
- Digital photographs
- X-rays
- Digital scans or impressions
- Clinical orthodontic measurements
These allow Dr. Smith to evaluate your teeth, bite, and jaw alignment, and to design a treatment plan tailored to your needs. When you start treatment, the cost of these diagnostic records is included in your care.
If diagnostic records have been completed and a customized treatment plan has been prepared, and you later decide not to proceed with treatment or cancel after signing a treatment agreement, a standard records charge will be applied to your account.
This reflects the clinical time, assessment, and treatment planning that have already been completed. Records may be released or transferred to another provider once this charge has been settled.
Your Customized Treatment Plan
After reviewing your records, Dr. Smith will meet with you privately to discuss her findings. She will:
- Explain any dental or orthodontic concerns
- Show how treatment can improve your smile and bite
- Review treatment options such as braces or clear aligners
- Share examples of similar cases
Answer all of your questions at your own pace
Our team will then review scheduling, comfort expectations, financial arrangements, and payment options so everything is clear and easy to understand
Start Your Treatment the Same Day
Many patients choose to begin treatment the same day as their consultation. If you’re ready and your questions have been answered, we’re happy to start treatment right away, saving you an additional visit. We value your time and aim to make each appointment meaningful and efficient.
