MEET DR. KIMBERLY MAYS SMITH

Dr. Kimberly Mays Smith grew up in Little Rock with a passion for helping others. From a young age, Dr. Kim has understood the value of family and serving others.

This led her to pursue a career in orthodontics. Ever since she opened her practice, Dr. Kim has been bringing healthy, beautiful smiles to her community.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Dr. Smith received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree from The Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1998, where she was inducted into the Gorgas Odontological Honorary Society.

As a recipient of the Colgate Palmolive Annie Elizabeth “Bessie” Delaney Scholarship Award, she entered the orthodontic residency program at Howard University, where she received her specialty certificate in orthodontics and maxillofacial orthopedics.

Dr. Smith is an accomplished specialist with almost 20 years of dental and orthodontic experience. In 2022, she was featured as a top doctor in the Top Docs and Women in Medicine magazine.

Tired of the strictly clinical environments offered by many dental practices, she purchased her existing practice in Evanston, IL to offer quality, compassionate orthodontic care to all of her patients.

Orthodontist vs. Dentist: Specialized Orthodontic Expertise

Orthodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry focused on aligning teeth and jaws for optimal function and aesthetics. Unlike general dentists, orthodontists like Dr. Smith undergo additional years of specialized training beyond dental school. This training is centered around specific treatments such as braces and clear aligners, equipping them with the skills necessary to diagnose, prevent, and treat dental and facial irregularities.

Choosing an orthodontist for your teeth straightening needs ensures that you're receiving care from a professional who has dedicated their career to perfecting these specific treatments, offering a level of expertise that general dentists typically do not possess.

The Transformative Benefits of Orthodontic Treatment

Orthodontic treatment offers a multitude of benefits that extend far beyond a straighter smile. Physically, it plays a pivotal role in enhancing oral health. Properly aligned teeth are easier to clean, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease. Additionally, correcting bite issues can alleviate problems such as uneven wear on teeth, jaw pain, and difficulties in chewing or speaking.

Mentally and personally, the impact of orthodontic treatment is profound. A straight, well-aligned smile boosts self-confidence and self-esteem, positively influencing various aspects of life. This newfound confidence can lead to more open and engaging social interactions, enhancing one's ability to connect with others.

From a professional standpoint, a confident smile can be a game-changer. It often contributes to making better first impressions, which can be crucial in job interviews, client meetings, and networking opportunities. A beautiful smile is perceived as a sign of health, vitality, and attention to personal care, attributes highly valued in professional settings.

At Smile Suite Orthodontics, we understand these comprehensive benefits and are committed to providing our patients with not just a beautiful smile, but a foundation for improved overall well-being.
